Embryo - Third Month

The baby will bend their fingers around an object placed in their palm, the fingernails are forming, and they can begin to suck its thumb.

-Week 10: Body functions like swallowing, squints, frowns, and puckering of the brow have begun.

-Week 11: Facial Expressions have begun, including smiling. The baby now breaths the amniotic fluid and will continue to do so until birth. Fingernails and toenails have now become present, and the taste buds are working.

-Week 12: This marks the end of the first trimester. Vigorous activity will show the baby’s distinct personality. The baby can kick, turn over, curl, and fan their toes and fingers. Not all first-time mothers will feel this activity yet, which is expected early in the pregnancy.
